"The only ones among you who will really be happy are those who have sought and found how to serve." --Albert Schweitzer

2010:

THANKS for making our first Yoga Day USA such a roaring success!  75 brand new students came to see us and we taught over 200 (yes that is HUNDRED!) people in our free classes!!  WOW!  It was a crazy day in a great way.  The teachers rocked with all of their help and great classes they taught in service.  The students--our regulars and our newbies--rocked with their awesome energy and their positive attitudes as we got creative fitting everyone in to share the magic of yoga.  It is always a pleasure for us to give back to our community in the true spirit of yoga: seva (service) and karma (right action).  We appreciate YOU and we love to share yoga, so come back and see us soon.  JiY

2009:

Our Thanksgiving holiday seva (service) classes went great!  Thanks SO much to all who participated and gave so generously!!  Even in these hard times you found it in your hearts--and your wallets--to give to those in our community who are struggling, as well as to those who have no voice at all.  This is truly yoga in action.  Thank you to the Journeys' teachers who freely gave their time to teach these fund raising classes and to Adam Foster who played his guitar for us at our Friday night yin class.  It was beautiful.

  • We raised $250.00 for the Wakulla County Animal Shelter--and got a big bag of towels for the puppies and kitties to use-- at our Wednesday night class (with Suzanne).

  • We raised over $100 and got 75 pounds of food for Second Harvest at our Friday night class (with Suzanne).

  • We raised over $100 and a bunch of supplies for Leon County Humane Society at our Saturday class (with Stacey and Sonia).

  • We raised money for Refuge House at our Sunday night class (with Sonia).

We love to give back, and are so lucky to have a community of yogi's who embrace that same belief.

2008

Our 2008 holiday fund raising classes went fantastic!  Thanks to all who participated and gave so willingly to the seven charities selected by our teachers during both the Thanksgiving and December holidays.  Thanks to the teachers who generously donated their time to teach these fund raising classes!

We had over 100 people attend seven classes to benefit seven different local causes.

For the Wakulla county animal shelter we raised $176 and donated 7 large bags of blankets and towels (something the shelters always need), as well as dog and cat food. (Jackie and Suzanne donated their time)

For the Second Harvest Food Bank we raised $100 and 5 bags (35 lbs) of groceries.  (Stacey donated her time)

For the Refuge House we raised $100 and an “armload” of gifts and holiday ornaments for their shelter. (Teresa donated her time)

For the Leon county animal shelter we raised $175 and donated several large bags of cat and dog food and lots of paper towels. (Jessa donated her time)

For Grassroots free school we raised $65 and got some nice books for their library. (Jackie donated her time)

For The Homeless Shelter (“The Shelter”) we raised $135 (and had a great time doing our first “family” yoga class!). (Teresa donated her time)

For the Big Bend Cares rockin’ New Years Eve class we raised $350. (Suzanne and Jackie donated their time)

It feels so great to give back to our community, embracing not only the holiday sprit but the spirit of yoga as well.  And to be in the presence and company of such generous people is a blessing!  Thank you so very much!
